Healthy Eating Plans – Back to Basics

When healthy eating plans are looming, why is it that we always look for the quickest and easiest option. Many people forget that a good lifestyle does not mean a restrictive lifestyle. The purpose of a lifestyle change is to change your health for the better. Your health should be what you want to change and not necessarily to become super skinny or to restrict your diet to the amount that you do not enjoy food and all its benefits.

The body is an incredible machine and if you treat it right it will be grateful. Weight gain or loss is a simple process really. If you think of your body as a scale and food you eat as energy, then if you take in more energy than you use (by doing your daily functions, by exercising, etc) you will put on weight. The opposite is also true if you use more energy than you take in you will lose weight. This is a very simplified equation but holds true for most cases.

The problem that most people face is that they often do not know what food is good or bad. At the end of the day it boils down to choosing healthier options over unhealthy options. These choices should carry on for the rest of your life. Sounds daunting I know, but by making small changes and ever implementing these changes without thinking about them is what our goal is.

Now if you combine healthy food choices with a more active lifestyle we are on the way to a healthy and fit you. It is recommended that you do thirty minutes of exercise most days of the week. Start small and gradually increase as you feel you are capable and willing.

Now all these changes may seem difficult to do but remember that you want to be healthy for the rest of your life and these changes need to be made with that in mind. These changes need to become part of your every day life and you will be amazed how quickly you will start to feel great and have more energy. Please do not fall into the trap of fad diets and quick fixes. Healthy eating plans are the best way to start with this journey.
